  • George Henry Tichband was born in Bexhill, Sussex. His family was at 3 Union Street, St Leonards on Sea, in the 1911 census. His father, also George Henry, was a postman; both he and his wife Eleanor Clara were born in Hastings.

  • George Henry Tichband was my great uncle. His sister Dorothy Capern (nee Tichband) was my grandmother, she died in 1979. There was also a younger brother, Ronald. I have visited the Pozieres Memorial which is very moving.
