George Henry Tichband was born in Bexhill, Sussex. His family was at 3 Union Street, St Leonards on Sea, in the 1911 census. His father, also George Henry, was a postman; both he and his wife Eleanor Clara were born in Hastings.
George Henry Tichband was my great uncle. His sister Dorothy Capern (nee Tichband) was my grandmother, she died in 1979. There was also a younger brother, Ronald. I have visited the Pozieres Memorial which is very moving.
