Other Info: Charles Nagle died on 15th May 1918. He is buried at Hastings Cemetery. An article published in the Hastings & St Leonards Observer on 1st June 1918 states; “Signaller C. S. Nagle, formerly in R. H. A.; contracted consumption in France and died at his parent’s residence at 44 Sedlescombe Road North, St Leonards.

Charles Stanley Nagle was born in 1897 at Stone, near Dartford, Kent. He attested on the 12 November 1914 for the Royal Horse Artillery at Canterbury, falsely claiming he was 19, He was a farm labourer. He had worked for 15 months for Mr Goodhew, Chestfield Manor, Swalecliff, Kent.
His service number was 59350. He became a Driver on the 29 January 1915 and appears to have served in the BEF. He was discharged as physically unfit on the 12 June 1917 and lived at 58 Queens Street [i.e. Queen's Road], Hastings. He wished to work in the munitions sector in Hastings. His mother was Mrs Mary M. Humphrey of Forge Cottage, Shorncliffe, Kent.
