      Hi Minnie. I’m not sure if the coat shown in the photo belongs to a specific regiment. I have seen photographs of similar coats belonging to soldiers of other regiments, so perhaps it was something made available to all troops. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Regards, Kieron

        Hi Kieron, Until seeing this photo I’d only seen the coat in photo of my Grandfather – I’m so pleased others have seen them! I will continue to dig. So far I have ‘identified’ coat as a Russian “Shuba”.Have wondered if it was a studio shot of him because of the obvious backdrop. But the Whatman photo was also of Hastings men & family, he was also from there.
