This man was in the 1911 census at 53 Carisbrooke Road, a 3 room apartment within the house, as Thomas E. Tolhurst, age 33, milkman worker, born Silverhill, Hastings. His wife Gertrude, 32, born Camden Town, was a lodging house keeper. They had two children and two servants. He had married, 1905, Hastings, Gertrude Mary Eaton.
He was an infant in the 1881 census at Battle Road, Hollington, St Leonards, where father Thomas was a carter and agricultural labourer.
His wife was probably the woman who died in 1953 at Clapham Common, However, a Gertrude M. Tolworth married, 1927, Wandsworth, George E.H. Jamison.
