Charles Burchell was my grandmother’s first husband. He served in the Canadian Army from 1915-1919. He was wounded in action once during his time in France. He died in 1923 as a result of the war possibly from mustard gas. He is buried in the Field of Honour in Union Cemetery Calgary, Canada. He left a son Ernest John who served in the RCAF in WWII. I have a nice photo of Charles in his uniform and also of his headstone if you are interested. PS I have really enjoyed looking at the pictures of the soldiers from WW1. Lest we forget.
Thank you for this information Patricia. I would be very happy to add the photographs you have of Charles to this page. Please email them to: ww1rollofhonour (at) gmail.com. Kind Regards, Kieron.
