From what I can find John was born John Ernest Tilbury in Portsea RD - his birthdate is recorded in Naval records and at the time of the 1939 Register as 15 Feb 1879. He lived with his grandfather Charles Francis in 1881/1891 and 1901. The name of his parents not yet ascertained. He was declared "medically unfit" 1st March 1920. In 1939 he was living at Pylands, Pylands Lane , Winchester R.D., Hampshire - a Fruit and Veg Grower/producer with his wife Rosa (nee Hayles). His death was registered in 1953.
