I think this is my great uncle he was killed in the battle of Loos in Sep 1915.i am confused as he is remembered in Loos memorial France.According to your photo he was in Boscombe hospital I assume dead caused by his wounds. My question is if he was home where is likely to have been buried.I would appreciate any help you can give
Regards,
Stan Hesmer
Hi Stanley. It looks like he recovered from the wound he received in September 1914, then returned to duty before he was killed in action the following year. The Loos Memorial commemorates over 20,000 soldiers who have no known grave, so its likely that he lies with his comrades in the River Lys / Grenay area.
He was a corporal at the time of his death.
I'm not sure but I think I could be a distant relation, Rose hesmer married a George s wenman and had many children one was A.A. wenman, he then got married to Nora and she had my mother..
