Other Info: Alfred Hook died aged 37 on 20th March 1920. He is buried at Hastings Cemetery. The inscription on his grave marker reads “He left the world without a fear, save for his wife and children dear”. Alfred is not named on Hastings War Memorial.

He was born in 1882 in Poole, Dorset. He married Charlotte Louise [sic] Smith in 1905 at Hastings. He attested 14 October 1914 at St Leonards on Sea for the Royal Engineers when he was of 11 Clifton Road, St Leonards, and a painter. He was discharged 2 November 1914 as medically unfit.
He was awarded a pension from 11 December 1919 for his tuberculosis.
